Cardgames: Bang!
I’ve previously promised to blog more about Boardgames that I play and the learning outcome from those boardgames. Instead of a boardgame, last weekend I was introduced to a new cardgame by Ming Kim - Bang! (That’s the name of the game).
As the name may suggest (and also the picture on the box), it’s a game that revolves around the theme of “Wild Wild West!”. It’s a very simple yet addictive game. The first thing that amazes me was the price of the cards - the basic set was RM90 (the number of cards are no more than 2 sets of poker cards). Designing a good card game is surely a way to make a fortune! Anyway, I’ll share some insights to the game. These are the character cards and what you need to do if you happen to draw those cards:
- The Sheriff must kill the outlaws.
- The Vice protects the sherif.
- Outlaws kills the sheriff.
- Renegade aims to be the last one standing.
Besides for the Sheriff, other characters will remain a secret to everyone else. So it’s really a guessing game of who is who. Some of the action cards that can be played throughout the turn-based game:
- Bang! shots a player and claim a life.
- Missed! avoids a shot.
- Beer - Adds a life.
- Indian - Claims a life from each player who doesn’t have a Bang card in hand.
- And the list goes on.
Of course to make it more interesting, each player will also draw a character card that gives him/her some special abilities (i.e: to be able to Bang! more than once a turn or to Bang! further …) and throughout the game there are cards that will add on to the abilities of each player too!
Though a very simple game, it helps one to develop the ability to analyze and read the actions and reactions of individuals. Some would say … dealing with politics maybe?
Only managed to play 3 rounds of the game before calling it a day but will look forward to playing it again … Oh yes, waiting for Ming Kim to buy “Bang! The Bullet!“.
